Pipeline Safety and Public Awareness
General Pipeline Awareness
Homeowners and excavators undertaking excavation projects should be aware that they may encounter underground hazards including but not limited to pipelines, electric transmission lines, water and sewer lines, fiber optic cables and other buried utilities. Outrigger Energy operates pipelines in western North Dakota transporting natural gas, condensate liquids, and natural gas liquids. These lines can present a hazard when excavating as contents are transported under pressure, present a fire hazard when exposed to an ignition source, and present a hazard to surrounding ecosystems in the event of a release.
Damage Prevention
All Outrigger Energy pipelines are included in the local one-call systems. Anyone undertaking an excavation project should call 811 or 800-795-0555 to determine what hazards may exist in the project area. Outrigger personnel are notified of projects submitted to the one-call system occurring within the vicinity of pipelines and coordinate with excavators to ensure safe excavation. If individuals suspect a line has been damaged please contact the Outrigger emergency line at 866-382-3943.
Emergency Awareness and Response
In the unlikely event of a line-strike or observed release individuals should call local emergency response (911) or the Outrigger emergency line 866-382-3943. Emergency contact information is listed on all Outrigger pipeline markers. Indications of pipeline releases may include (but are not limited to) visual cues such as pooled hydrocarbon or visible gas, auditory cues such as hissing gas, or olfactory cues such as strong hydrocarbon odor.
Pipeline Location
